LUKHULA RIVER BRIDGE
The remote locality of the site on the Lukula River in the Democratic Republic of the Congo rendered the construction of a traditional reinforced concrete bridge both difficult and expensive. Time was also of the essence since the bridge was required for the purpose of relocating an on-shore drill rig. We recommended the construction of a steel bridge to our client as a cost effective alternative.
The 42-metre galvanized, single-span, double-lane bridge with a live load carrying capacity in excess of 60 tonnes was ready for shipping to the site within 8 weeks.
Our installation team assembled and installed the 135 tonne bridge in 12 days.
